A little about the Author

Dr. Jagdish Chaturvedi has been known all his life by family, friends and peers for being absentminded, impulsive and for making mistakes, failing and causing blunders. Despite this, at the age of 33, he is a well-to-do Ear Nose Throat surgeon and medical device innovator with 18 inventions to date. He was recognized as one of the 35 innovators under the age of 35 by MIT Technology Review in 2016.

He is a well-known stand-up comedian, actor and an author of the best-selling book on medical devices called Inventing Medical Devices: A Perspective from India.

In this book, Dr. Chaturvedi shares ten personal anecdotes of mistakes and failures and gives a perspective of his interpretation, where he positions failures as a part of the process rather than a definitive outcome. Explaining with humorous caricatures and situations, he demonstrates numerous benefits that arise from such mistakes, why they are important and how they have helped him shape his career.

Even though the mistakes and failures made by Dr. Chaturvedi may appear trivial and in-significant when compared to those faced by many others in the general population, they highlight the principles of a very unique and positive perspective that may be applied in mistakes and failures of greater magnitudes as well. This book may serve to be food for thought for many who believe that failures are detrimental and that they should be aggressively avoided and not embraced. It may change their minds to think about failures as steps towards success, by showing how key insights from these failures can be used to empower new skills and opportunities.

Now that you know all of this. here we bombard the author with questions and get an insight more about the interesting book.

1)  Tell us a little about the book and what it means to you?
This book is my way of sharing how failures have helped me progress in life faster and more effectively. At the age of 34 if I am a well-to-do doctor, successful Medical device innovator, serial author and stand up comedian then all credit goes to the ability to fail and make mistakes quickly which helped me evolve faster. I don’t think many people realise the benefits of making mistakes and failing. The learnings from mistakes can make one good at things and many such learnings makes one an expert. People generally avoid mistakes and miss out on a chance to improve. Through this book I want to demonstrate how my failures have helped me more than negatively impact me.

Icebergs in Paradise by Sayan Basak(poetry)

Icebergs in Paradise by [Basak, Sayan]

Blurb –

There is a relationship between the eye contacts we make and the perceptions that we create in our heads, a relationship between the sound of another’s voice and the emotions that we feel in our hearts, a relationship between our movements in space all around us and the magnetic pulls we can create between others and ourselves. All of these things (and more) make up the magic of every ordinary day and if we are able to live in this magic, to feel and to dwell in it, we will find ourselves living with magic every day. These are the white spaces in life, the spaces in between the written lines, the cracks in which the sunlight filters into. Some of us swim in the overflowing of the wine glass of life, we stand and blink our eyes in the sunlight reaching unseen places, we know where to find the white spaces, we live in magic.
Icebergs in Paradise is a journey that will make you travel the entire world of emotions – starting it from joy to sadness, love to pain, fear to cheer and anger to tranquility. ”

Review –

Ramayana: Stand Strong – by Shubha Vilas

The Ramayana is not a story. It’s a way of life. It’s the game of life.

Life is a constant reminder that nothing, however powerful in one season, remains unchanging. The endless cycles of change can truly us if we are unprepared to face its realities. However, we often see these changing times as problems larger than they really are. Many issues in life when perceived with fear, result in pain; but when perceived with CLARITY, result is FREEDOM.

Situations of helplessness are almost always created by our own limited imagination.

Do you have the courage to face your fears?
Stand Strong, the fourth book in Ramayana: The Game of Life series reminds us through its eternal stories — such as the tale of brothers Vali and Sugriva — that life is like a high-risk treasure hunt: one often has to walk through a maze of confusing paths while being chased by dangerously complex dilemmas to find the hidden treasure of wisdom.

There are books that uplift you and hold you through storms , this book is one of those. Ramayana has been written over and over again but this one has a different perspective and teaching to tell us. This book keeps you hooked at all times. Starting from the cover itself it  is so calming. The blurb gives just the right amount to keep you interested. A long read yes, but really beautiful. The way it is narrated and each event is properly explained plus every page has glossary to explain all the meanings to one. It is a self help plus a story book. This book gives you so much more clarity about life and your current situations. It will make you wise and much more satified with life. Language is easy to understand. The book has alot to offer as you delve in. It is not necessary only for sprituality readers to read this book but it is made for the masses to gain wisdom and root alot more to themselves. It is a series of 4 books one can read this book directly or can even be read from the start. The plot rotates around the main characters.

The cover depicts about love and a person being in jail. The title is really touching. The story is based on love, revenge and friendship. How a day can change your life completely. The story has alot of dramatic turns. The major characters are neel, aditi, randeep and riya. How neel saves a life and randeep becomes his best friend until  a unwanted accident takes place which shatters his life. You will really love the daily incidents described and the college days as well.  Neel is in love with Aditi.and randeep is in love with riya. Riya falls in love with neel.Riya conspires against neel to get him to love him. That one accident changes everything( read to know about the twist). It is a little long read but it is really gripping. The pace keeps on changing from fast to slow and medium. The last few pages the story moves fast. The narration is beautiful. The phrases used in the book are relatable. The characterization has been done really strong. The book is like a journey. The author has written several more books and he has done an amazing job with this book as well. Will definitely be looking forward to read more of his books.
