Book Review – City times and other poems by Vihang Naik!

BLURB- Vihang A. Naik throws light on the life of a city in all its shades, glory and misery in his City Times and Other Poems. It is an anthology of his intuitive and philosophical poems. The Poems are divided in 6 segmentsi.e. ‘Love Song of a Journey Man’ is more or less an inner travelogue, The segments, for instance, ‘Mirrored Man’ is about the other chimeras in the city .The people in the city are capricious like the walk of a crab or the colours of a chameleon. While, ‘The Path of Wisdom’ is about the beginning of meditation and knowledge. ‘At the Shore’ records the poet’s sense of futility, memory, pain, exile and alienation at the shore of life. The title of this collection is also the heading for the last of its six sections, in which the city is unfolded as a market place, as a heaven for underdogs, and as a seed bed of change and is observed at evening, at mid-night, by moon light and through fog and haze.

All the poems are written very delicately with loads of emotions stirring in every poem. having a deeper meaning to each and every poem. this collection has long and short poems. The author has done a great job putting in light to the journey of a travellers feelings.
There are many poems which deal with human emotions and desires. all the poems in this collection are my favourite. some poems will put you into contemplation and also like omg this is so very apt. this collection is a light and a refreshing read.every poem has a story to tell.
the way some words are written like ” b r o k e n’ helps in giving it a unique touch and adds more to the beauty of the poems.

train journeys are long and boring isn’t it? well what could be a better time companion than a good book(yessss)!so we have all seen reality shows and do have dreams of becoming a singer( though the only close we go is bathroom singing( self pats)

this story is new, revolutionary. going for your dreams. falling in love and watching yourself fall apart. the story is interesting, the language is simple yet keeping the reader glued till the very end.  the story is about tulip who has a dream of winning a singing reality show and become a singer. she follows her passion but sam is the one person who helps in bringing about all of the optimistic changes and helping her be what she really wants to be. and not just be a part of the rat race. don’t we all look for this? somebody who can help us find ourselves!

the story starts like a reality show and ends like one. working parents of tulip werent supporting before and now they are here supporting and believing in her, only because of sam! everything falls into place until life has other teachings to give you, that one incident teaches you. i really loved how the lyrics for most of my favourite songs were there! the description by the author is vivid and very lively! all the characters have their vital roles. story has many human emotions related to it! there is no long lagging or insignificant stretching of the novel. it is a crisp and new view to a different story.

the cover is nice too!

i really really loved the title after reading the whole book.

the ending is heartbreaking, i was almost in tears. all the plot happens like you are in the frame and all of this is happening right in front of you.

i thoroughly enjoyed the book! it is a lovely read. must read!

OVERALL- 4/5.

In a blink of an eye by aditya nighot.

First I would like to thank the author for giving me a signed reviewing copy.
(Yayie)

The title is so catchy that you want to know what’s in the story. The cover reveals it to be a romantic story, then I read the blurb and it was totally opposite it is indeed but with a twist.

So then after i started reading the book. The first few pages were building the basis of the book which is intense and immersing. Somewhere at times I felt lost when I could not relate who is narrating but then it all again makes sense.
The story takes pace, and believe me you won’t leave the book unread in a single go once that you start it.
The story revolves with the basis of love, friendship, revenge.

It is also related with nirbhayas case. The way the story is narrated is really amazing, from the writers point of view trying to get his story. Then from the view from different characters view as well.
This story is about two friends alok, rohit and the fantastic five friend gang, how their college life is full of fun and also that one love of the life that we all wait for. ( rohit- aisha)
How life is running along smooth lines and falls into place until one night where everything falls apart.

i will rate it an overall 4/5.
